Martin Gelin, journalist and writer, met with Destiny's Child in 2001 in the United States. He was also perhaps the first journalist in Sweden to write about the band in the Bulletin Board in 1999, during a time when R & B had very low status in Sweden.
- It was in 2001, just when I moved to the U.S., and I flew to Los Angeles to do a cover article in Aftonbladet Pulse, their Friday Annex for young people at the time. We met at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, as it was called then. This is where Richard Gere lives in Pretty Woman. I would think that all my questions were adapted smithfield station menu to impress Beyoncé, which meant I certainly talked a lot about old soul music. She was probably extremely bored by this, but she is from Texas and was just too polite to show it.
Beyoncé is one of the world's greatest singers, and has been in the music business for more than 15 years, she is obviously mediated evan deluxe though: was there any personality traits that shone through, something that stood out particularly in her as a person?
- This was fairly early in her career, but she was well media trained already. She comes from a very traditional background, was very classic polite and nice as many are in the southern United States. A lot of talk about The Lord and that she learned to sing in church.
- I loved the first Destiny's child-discs and wrote about them back in the day. It was at a time when the average article on the American R & B in the Swedish media about that "everything sounds the same and it's cheesy," so there was some work to do. Well I have had a more sporadic relationship with solo discs. Last time I saw her was Super Bowl appearance last winter which of course was so amazing that the power went off at the Superdome in New Orleans for ten minutes.

In just a few years, Uppsala musical anonymity crushed. PSL Elin Unnes trying to understand why with the help of British rock journalist Louise Brown, who visited the city earlier this year and is now working on a longer article about Uppsala scene. smithfield station menu (More ...)
From being Watains hometown but not much more, at a place to which people travel from all over the world to see the band, and the band moved there for inspiration. The dark heart which pumps blood Uppsala musical consists of Watain and In Solitude. But around them are also a large number of other bands, where members and rehearsal rooms shared freely: Degial, Reveal, No Future, Invidious and Gravemaskin is just a small selection.
Earlier this year went Louise Brown, the editor of the British rock magazine Iron Fist, to Uppsala to find out how the different bands relate to each other, and to try to find an answer to what kind of energies that transformed Uppsala one word Foreigners now struggling to learn to pronounce. I asked her to summarize their conclusions.
What are your top five favorite Uppsala band? Louise Brown: This is hard Because They all intermingle. smithfield station menu Everyone is part of eachother's projects. Watain's Erik Danielsson, in the newest issue of Iron Fist, said When he first heard of all the new bands in his hometown, he could not work out who was in what band. He could not understand why they did not just have one big band with one name. And he has a point. But if I'm pressed for an answer it would of course be In Solitude and Watain. In Solitude for me are key to the Uppsala Of Death Metal sound - they're smithfield station menu not death metal but They are absolutely the metal of death! Watain I've loved for many, many years. And I can not stop listening to No Future. They are a more indie pop band if anything, but dark, obviously. The band features members of In Solitude, Watain, Reveal and probably more, but like with all Uppsala band I lose track. [Read more about No Future HERE.] And I have to say Degial. They are ferocious and mesmerizing. The definition of death metal. But I also want to mention That Daniel smithfield station menu Bay is One of those life-changing artist for me. He doing now? Recorded anything. Well, not officially at least, but if we all keep pushing him, he will. And he sums up the scene so perfectly: We were sat in a park and Pelle [Forsberg] from Watain urged Daniel to go home and get his acoustic guitar. Pelle warned me I would love him and I did. He started playing and he summoned Nick Drake and Townes Van Zandt. For me, in That park
