This blog has moved to painfreekitchen.com. To keep reading this post (and future posts), head over to the new website. Last night I realized that I may have an unhealthy attachment to my computer. As I was coming home on the bus, I noticed that my laptop wasn't in my bag. In my rush to leave work and head to the gym, I walked out leaving it on my desk. After I got over my immediate "Crap, where the hell is my computer?" I calmed down and accepted that I would be disconnected for one evening. Unfortunately that meant that I wasn't texas immtrac able to type up this post when I had wanted (or spend my normal 3+ hours on pinterest...). Anyway, if you haven't read part one yet of 8 Healthy Foods with "Secret" Unhealthy texas immtrac Ingredients , just follow the link. On to part two. Canned Tomatoes
Del Monte Stewed texas immtrac and Diced Tomatoes. This was the food that sparked the idea for this blog post. Del Monte was on sale and I grabbed a few cans of it for my chili last week. Thankfully I turned the can over to look at the ingredients. texas immtrac
Cholula Hot Sauce. I know this is a favorite among a lot of people. Unfortunately it also contains xanthum gum. Depending on what the xanthum gum is made from, it can contain traces of wheat, corn or soy.
Sauerkraut is a staple among paleo/primal eaters that need a little help getting things moving. Essential Everyday is just the Jewel-Osco generic brand. If you look at the ingredients, you'll notice that they added two preservatives.
When I did my first Whole30, I had the hardest time finding nuts without added oils. Planters cashews contain "peanut and/or cottonseed oil." According to Mark's Daily Apple, cottonseed oil isn't the best thing to be eating, considering it comes from cotton and because it's a GMO made by Monsanto.
Interestingly enough, the place I found nuts without added oils was in Walgreens' brand. As you can see, they only have one ingredient. I'm sure I could probably also find nuts at Trader Joe's or Whole Foods, but for those of you who aren't near one, head to Walgreens.
Thai Kitchen Roasted Red Chili Paste. Unfortunately I bought this without looking. texas immtrac I saw the "gluten-free" on the front and fell for it. Later I actually took a look at the back. The very first ingredient is sugar. The second is soybean oil...oops.
Not texas immtrac to burst any bubbles. But both of those SauerKrauts contain the same ingredients. Depending on % of formula they don't have to declare things under a certain amount. The can is small enough that they don't have to mention the chemicals like they do in the large jar. The nuts? from Walgreens. They also contain oils not natural to the nut. However, Planters is nice enough to tell you straight out, where Walgreens just doesn't tell you at all. April 16, 2013 at 1:22 PM
